Red Hot Chili Peppers

I personally really like the Red Hot Chili Peppers. This album had a more beastie boy rap sound mixed with rock and it was kind of weird. Minus their popular songs on this album, Under The Bridge, and Give it Away, I didn't really like this album.

NEEDTOBREATHE

Last weekend I attended a performance at Stubbs by Needtobreathe. I can honestly say it was one of the most amazing performances I have ever seen. Their music is so powerful and you can really tell they are happy to be up there singing. They have so much passion in their voices when they sing. I would recommend going to see them perform once in your life.

Nirvana

It's really sad that Kurt Cobain killed himself. He was such a great musician and it's a shame he took his own life. It's strange that he made the stage look like a funeral with all of the flowers on Nirvana Unplugged. I definitely would have gone to a Nirvana Concert if Kurt Cobain was still the lead singer. His voice is so raspy and I love it. He really made that band.

Juicy J

Tonight I'm going to a rap concert and I'm not a huge rap fan but I'm pretty excited. A ton of my friends are going and so it should be pretty fun. I know about two songs. Ones called Show Out and another is called Bandz A Make Her Dance but it should be pretty interesting.

Trojans-Atlas Genius makeup blog

Atlas Genius has slowly started becoming more known through the media. His big hit that is starting to play on the Radio 'Trojans' has become viral. I believe the song is a metaphor. It's not about the Trojan horse from Greek mythology or Trojans as in Trojan Condoms. I think it's about a Trojan virus and all of his thoughts are looked to as files on a computer. A Trojan virus is usually attached to file you download and once in your computer spreads to corrupt the system. So with that it seems as though he had gone through a past breakup and he's trying to get over it. You can try throwing out things or try anything but nothing will work it will stay with you like a virus.

Big Jet Plane-Lady of the Sunshine Makeup Blog

This song is really good and I really like the lyrics. I think it has to do with meeting someone for the very first time but not an introductory type. More like when you're doing your everyday thing and someone grabs your attention and everything around you seems to stop but that one person. And then you realize you're staring so you try not to make it obvious but you end up missing the opportunity to see if the attraction was real. Here's the first part of the song 'She said hello mister, please to meet ya'; I wanna hold her, I wanna kiss her; she smelled of daisies, smelled of daisies; she drive me crazy, drive me crazy'

The Weeknd

Abel Tesfaye better known as the weekend, has energized R&B fans making them tired of the usual slow jams. He released his album Triology Novemeber 13 and skyrocketed to fame. His crew is called XO and some fans believe it stands for hugs and kisses but others think it represents the drugs ecstasy and oxycontin.

Party in the USA

Party in the USA was a song sung by Miley Cyrus that was extremely over played. When it first came out it went viral making many sing along but now when I hear it, it makes me want to turn off the radio. When the songs. Are overplayed they are ruined. It's the radio stations fault.

Smells like Teen Spirit makeup blog

Smells like Teen Spirit is also one of my favorite songs by Nirvana. It's the first song on the album and a great way to start it off. The drums in the beginning just set the tone for the rest of the album. I almost feel like I could just be driving in the car blaring this song and screaming it at the top of my lungs. I love it!

Nirvana

Nirvana would have to be one of my favorite Rock bands of all time. Their music just puts me in a good mood. My favorite song would probably be Lithium. My mom was a huge Nirvana fan along with Pearl Jam, and Red Hot Chili Peppers, but that's probably one of the reasons I like them all so much. I'm actually thankful now that she would listen to them because I feel like I have such a vast music taste.

Selena Gomez Makeup Blog

When you were growing up do you remember singing to your parents? Did they tell you, you were good even though you knew you were bad? Selena Gomez recently performed at the VMAs and let me tell you... There was a lot of hate on her going on. I think she should have stuck to acting. Her new music is like nails on a chalkboard in my opinion. She even was lip synching. I bet her parents were the ones that said "You are an amazing singer" but she shouldn't have listened.

Kid cudi

It's relieving to know that there are some artists out there who really genuinely care about other people and not just all the fame. I've always been a big fan of Kid Cudi and I like how he raps about things that are meaningful. Hi new album Indicud was officially dedicated to an austinite, Ben Breedlove. Kid Cudi is such an inspirational amazing person and I think some people who knew Ben will think it's very sentimental of him.

NWA

90s rap in general is good but in particular I really liked NWA. Their songs were catchy and the upbeat beats were what really made it fun to listen to!

Hunter Hayes

Hunter Hayes is a new country artist that just has gotten big over this past year. I like his music but to me he sounds really high pitched and almost like he's straining his voice. They're cute meanings with the songs but his most known song "wanted" has really gone big. Here are some lyrics: "I wanna wrap you up, wanna kiss your lips, I, want to make you feel wanted."

30 seconds to mars

One of my favorite alternative rock bands of all time is 30 Seconds to Mars. Jared Leto is so passionate about what his songs he sings and I really like it mostly because you feel like the songs are meaningful. He has so much power in his voice and I love it! Before I did I definitely will see one, if not many, of their shows.

Mackelmore

Mackelmore's popular song "Thrift Shop" has been overplayed everywhere. It's on every music station and is played way too often. They're less popular songs such as "Otherside" and "Same Love" have meaningful lyrics which I really love. If you haven't listened to Mackelmore you should check them out.

Rihanna

Rihanna is my new favorite artist. Her new album Unapologetic is amazing and I really like how sultry her voice sounds. She doesn't strain her voice at all.

1957 makeup blog

1957 is a kind of recently played song on the radio sung by Milo Greene. I feel like it's beginning to be overplayed but I really enjoy listening to it. It's a really soft easy flowing song. It's a little repetitive on the verses but that's kind of why I like! It doesn't seem annoying.

M83

This electric/alternative band always seems to impress me. One of my favorite songs they sing is called "We Own The Sky" because it's really calming. They use a lot of cool sounds that you can faintly hear in the background. One of their songs that I'm sure you'd be familiar with is called "Midnight City." I also like that song! You should listen to them if you haven't.

Elvis Costello

Elvis Costello is pretty good. His lyrics to his songs are actually pretty meaningful to him and you can tell it's not just random words put together. He knows how to put things in a way where you have to think about them for a while. I would say he's one of my favorites from the 70's.

70's

Overall I wouldn't say the 70's are my favorite. The 70s rock isn't what I'd choose to listen to on my free time. All of the bands in a way sound the same to me. I'm just not a big fan.

Talking Heads

It was a weird performance but I bet it's one to remember. They seem like an interesting band and the lead singer does some strange things on stage. It was cool how his suit was slowly growing. I liked it!

Make Up Blog SXSW

South by Southwest is a huge music festival held right in our hometown Austin, Texas. It is the premiere destination for discovery. Many artists who are well known come to Austin to perform and reviews say they loved it! An old 90's band "Third Eye Blind" is coming and I'm thinking I'm gonna go. I have always loved 90's music and I think it would be a great opportunity that I don't want to miss out on. I don't know how much longer they will be performing since they've been around for a while.

The Ramones

The Ramones were an American rock band that formed in New York City. Their music style is pretty good. They sound sort of like a more rock version of The Beach Boys. They were one of the first bands to bring in their type of sound and I don't think it's too bad! I can see how some wouldn't like it though. Maybe it sounds to unorganized for them but I see the good in it.

Dixie Chicks Make Up Blog

The Dixie Chicks have been around for a long time and I've always been a huge fan. They harmonize really well and have powerful voices. I also like the fact that the two members are sisters and can play bluegrass. It seems very difficult and requires a lot of talent.

Make Up Blog Bruno Mars

I don't know what it is about Bruno Mars that I don't like but something really just bothers me about it. Maybe it's his style, his hair, or his strange approach to romance. The lyrics to his songs just suck and I don't like his voice. I think he's odd. There has been one song that I've liked sung by him and it is my ONLY song I have ever liked by him called It Will Rain.

Rihanna

If you watched the Grammys you would probably know how wonderfully sung this song was called "Stay" by Rihanna. I think it was by far the best performance. She made me feel the emotion she was feeling when I listened to her. This is definitely my favorite song right now.

Country

I've always been a huge fan of country music. Whether your cruising down the road or on a hot summer day out on the lake, country music always seems to fit any mood. I would have to say a lot of people don't like country music and I don't see what there isn't to like about it.

Bobby Womack

Bobby's voice is really cool. His music is kind of funky but I like it! I like when he makes his voice shake while he sings a chord. He's very original.

John Lennon vs Paul McCartney

Personally I liked John Lennon singing because his songs were a little softer. "Imagine" is one of my favorite songs that he sang. His voice is kind of raspy which I like.

Joanie Mitchell

Joanie Mitchell's voice is kind of bubbly in a way. It reminds me of a bird. She can really control her voice though and you can tell she's experienced. I like her more upbeat songs but the slow ones are good to go to bed to. They kind of all sound the same too. I still like her singing though! She's very talented.

Led Zeppelin

I'm not the biggest fan of Led Zeppelin. I don't know what it is about it that I don't like but I just don't like it. I don't have much to say about this band.

Across the Universe

The Beatles song Across the Universe is one of the best songs they've sung in my opinion. Fiona Apple is an amazing singer and she did a cover of Across the Universe. I think it's better than the first version.

Ed Sheeran

Many girls my age around 14-17 years old have been talking about Ed Sheeran being the best artist around and personally I dont like his music. I dont know what it is about it that I dont like but I just am not interested in his music. Although he is number 33 on the charts so he must be some what okay to be kind of up there.

Oldies but Goodies

One of my favorite decades EVER in the music world was the 90's. I feel like there was so much variety and there was so much going on with different types of genres. There was so many brilliant bands like The Spice Girls, Garbage, Pixies, The Smashing Pumpkins, Barenaked Ladies, Mazzy Star, and many others that would take too long to name. It was just an overall good decade. That is all I have to say.

Covers

Song covers can either be really good, maybe better than the first version, or really bad. One cover that I love is a cover by Ellie Goulding of the song High for This by The Weeknd. The beat she uses in the cover makes the song more up to tempo and kind of electronic sounding. If you don't like that type of sound than you probably won't like this cover. In my opinion it's one of the best covers ive heard. Go YouTube it!

Lana Del Rey

A lot of people have recently been talking about this new artist Lana Del Rey. I really like her music just because her voice is whimsical and sultry. She isn't as well known as some artists but I think she will soon get there.

Black Sabbath

This band to me is alright. I don't hate em' but I don't love em' and one thing I didn't like was how many solos they had. Their songs just went on and on with solos. It got annoying. Also they didn't seem put together. They were sloppy sounding. The lyrics were also strange.

The Weeknd

Recently I have been overly abusing this new artist putting his songs on repeat when I listen to them. The tone and melody of these songs is what I really like. It's a single guy and he raps but it's not like any rapper just rhyming words about nothing but more meaningful things. I think he's an artist that everyone can like. His song Wicked Games has began playing on the radio so you could be familiar. If you sound interested in his songs you should listen to him!
